To help you move around the Gantt Chart and task list there are some useful shortcut keys and navigational tools.
Use the shortcut CTRL G to open the Go To dialogue box which will allow you to jump to a specified date or task ID within the Gantt Chart.
Use the Scroll to Task button on the Task tab in the Ribbon to find a task in the Gantt chart. Start by selecting a task in the task list and then click the Scroll to Task button.

The Gantt chart will automatically scroll to the task’s position.
There are a number of ways to Zoom in and out of the Gantt chart. Zooming will change the units shown in the Timescale above the Gantt chart.
Using the Zoom button on the View tab of the Ribbon is one way of zooming in and out of the Gantt chart.
Another way would be to use the Timescale drop down list to select a preset zoom based on the level of detail you wish to view – days, weeks or months etc.
You can use the Entire Project button to zoom the Gantt chart so it shows the entire length of the project on your screen or you can use the Selected Tasks button to zoom in on tasks you have selected in your Gantt chart.
Zoom Using Your Mouse
To zoom using your mouse, hold down the CTRL key whilst you rotate the wheel on top of your mouse.
The timescale appears above the Gantt chart – the units shown in the timescale depend on the current zoom setting you have applied. You can also set the units used by directly formatting the timescale…
Start by double-
The Timescale dialogue box shows tabs for three tiers of units. By default, the timescale only shows two tiers for the Gantt chart, but this can be changed in the Timescale options drop down menu.
For each tier you can select the units you want to display, the label for that unit of time and the count for the unit. The count setting works like this: if your units were days and your count was one, then every day would be shown on the timescale. If the count was two, every other day would be shown.
Click on OK to confirm your settings.
