Gantt chart templates are available for many applications. The de facto application for creating Gantt charts is Microsoft Project, but this requires a steep learning curve and a not insubstantial financial investment.
Microsoft Excel can be used to create Gantt charts and so can Microsoft Visio. Outside of the Microsoft Office suite, there are other visual mapping software solutions which can also be used.

Microsoft Project Gantt Chart Templates

There are templates available here for particular schedules such as market research. The pool of templates is continually developing so it’s worth revisiting if you can’t find what you are looking for straight away.
Microsoft Excel Gantt Chart Templates
The advantage of using Excel for creating Gantt Charts is that you probably already own and know how to use a spreadsheet. Again the Microsoft.com website contains some Excel Gantt chart templates but there are probably better solutions found elsewhere.
For example, a free Gantt chart template is available from vertex42.com Vertex42 also offer a paid for version of the Excel template if some of the more advanced features are required.

Microsoft Visio Gantt Chart Templates
Microsoft Visio has a built in Gantt chart template – all you need to do is provide the data, imported from Excel or another application
